The Saturday before Croeso was glorious and the 2 days after have just been great as well, so we were very unfortunate to suffer from the weather we did, but at least for my part the day 5 was mostly dry, but I can assure you setting everything up the day before was pretty miserable.
When I took on the job the arena and car park was near the Castle and I had visions of a very grand arena backdrop. As Peter has said in his report the new Park liaison officer moved both my car park and arena to the South East end of the map. Nothing like having your two key assets pulled from under your feet only 16 weeks before the event!! It did though bring consolation in the form of a large hard standing for car parking, but meant long walks to the start and as such affected the planning of the courses more.
I was pleased how the day went in the end and I did get positive feedback from many competitors. BUT none of it would have happened without the marvellous support Swansea Bay received from a host of volunteers from all over the UK as well as Belgium and Germany. They were great and took on tasks without question. This level of cooperation and support was just fantastic and we could not have run the event without them. Well done and thanks to you all.
