OrganiserGwanas was a great area to have as our day, well known to Mair (Tomos, Co-Organiser) and close enough for travelling, an experienced Planner and Controller, and a farmer who totally went out of his way to help with all our requests. The main thing to worry about then was parking and weather. It was great to wake up on Sunday morning to bright sunshine, after a sleepless night listening to every tiny drop of rain on the marquee. Parking - what a relief when I saw from up on the hillside at about 12 0’clock, whilst shadowing my daughter on the yellow course, any empty track, the cars were parked! We did have a few hiccups - not least a total re-organisation of the assembley area on the Saturday night and Sunday morning - (eating into that parking space!). It has been a great experience for me, I have learnt such a lot about all aspects of orienteering and met such a lot of new people, who have been friendly, helpful, encouraging and patient. A special thank you to Katy and Mark Dyer, Pam and Paul Chamberlain, and, last but by no means least, Geraint Evans - Gwanas Farmer. Also, to Helena Burrows, who was there ready to take charge of any safety incident . A big thankyou to all the helpers, some of whom were not even there for the orienteering, DEE with the parking, and all those who took on jobs that they had never done before - download. The Darlington family, who had an extremely busy day on the string course. We were really pleased with how it all went, and with the positive feedback we have received.
